MOTORCYLE ROUTES

* Nockalmstraße – bends galore.

This route (35km) with lots of easy bends takes you through unique mountain territory and the largest conifer forest in the Eastern Alps.
The unmistakable round Nock’n are not merely charming to look at but they are also a geological rarity. The gentle incline of the road coupled with the natural charms of the landscape make this a very special attraction for motorcyclists.

* Malta Hochalmstraße   911 – 1,933m above sea level (Europe’s highest dam)

The 14.4km-long road has bold hairpins and tunnels cut into the mountain face. The middle section is a particularly impressive example of high-alpine road construction with the Klammfall, the Kehren and the Lange Wand tunnel – the crowning glory for alpine route freaks. There are regular guided tours inside the dam with explanations on how water is turned into electricity.

*Großglockner Hochalpenstraße

Meeting point for all motorcyclists at Fuscher Törl (2.428m above sea level) is Bikers’ Point, an asphalted parking and rest area. From this vantage point you have a splendid panorama of the peaks over 3,000m.

*Goldeck panorama route

This is 14.5km long and goes from Zlan to the Goldeck car park at Seetal, 1,895m above sea level.
The 10 bends afford wonderful views of the Millstätter Alpe, Lake Millstatt, the Nock mountains, the Gailtal alps and the Karawanken.

*Villacher Alpenstraße

The 16km take you from Villach up to the Dobratsch (2,167m above sea level) with frequent views down over the city of Villach, the Julischen Alpen and the characteristic south side of the Dobratsch, the largest landslide area in the Eastern Alps.
